YouTube TV CBS March Madness Is Giving Viewers Trouble, Fix In Progress

Similar to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, YouTube TV is a streaming TV service that offers live TV as well as on-demand videos. Currently, it offers content from over 85 TV networks including PBS, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX and others.

YouTube TV was launched in 2017 and in September 2021 had more than 4 million subscribers.

But as is the case with all streaming services, users have reported numerous bugs such as the app freezing after the latest Roku OS update, with some saying the app stopped responding and froze during commercials or commercials.

Adding to the problem, many YouTube TV users are now saying (1,2,3,4,5) that they are having trouble watching CBS March Madness. User reports range from screen flickering, playback error to poor quality.

It seems that the series is currently inaccessible to many. Some said they tried reinstalling the app and clearing the cache if that would help, but unfortunately nothing seems to work.

Here are some reports from YouTube TV app users who can’t watch CBS March Madness.

YouTubeTv flickering issues on AppleTv
When watching any channel, the screen flickers from blurry to clear every two frames. Highly visible when looking at the channel logos. Very entertaining when watching March Madness and the scores are nervous. I can’t post a video here, but has anyone had this problem and know any solutions?

I don’t know what’s going on with @YouTubeTV and @CBSSports, but I can’t watch the NCAA tournament on CBS unless I download their stupid app. You are both dumb. I don’t know which one of you sucks the most. #MarchMadness

Fortunately, YouTube Support commented on the issue and said they were aware of the issues with CBS March Madness on the YouTube TV app. They also indicated that those affected can watch shows on the website.

Sorry to hear this – we are aware of the March Madness games streaming issue and are already working on a fix. For now, you can watch through their network streaming website using your YT TV credentials. More information here: Thank you for your patience.

Additionally, we’ve found a workaround that seems to help YouTube TV users who can’t watch CBS March Madness. This involves making sure the video quality is not set to Auto.

We hope the YouTube team will find out the root cause of the problem soon and fix it as soon as possible. If and when they do, we’ll update this space to let you know, so stay tuned.
