Some library patrons and readers noticed the June 1 post. and wondered what was going on.
Mid Columbia Library main branch runs curbside
According to the Mid Columbia Library systemand reports from YakTriNews.com, the MCL’s main branch on South Union had to go curbside.
According to officials and these reports, they had problems with their HVAC system. In short, it is not able to keep the building cool enough to allow people comfort when browsing and reading.
No word on how much it would cost to replace or repair the system, but officials told YakTriNews they ordered tinted windows and fans to keep the air moving and provide some comfort, but like many items these days, supply issues have delayed this.
The South Union branch is the largest in the MCL system.
The city of Kennewick owns the library, but it is operated by the Mid Columbia Library system, which has 12 branches in Benton, Franklin, and even Asotin counties.
In response to curbside service, hours were extended at other MCL locations. To learn more about these, Click here.
